Ask for the trading identity, contact details and the party actually carrying the shipment. Check authorisation documents and their relevance through official channels. A certificate name in an advertisement is not verification.

Request a quote based on your inventory and addresses. Packing, loading, delivery, extra charges and changes of plan should be clear. Examine which services an unusually low figure leaves out.
Read reviews in context
Consider the date, route and concrete experience described. Do not rely only on a star average. An explanation of how a problem was handled can be more useful than general praise. Establish your contact person early.
