Match protection to the item
Wrap glass and ceramics separately so they cannot touch. Cushion the base and fill gaps with suitable material. Use smaller boxes for heavy items and larger ones for light bulky items. Do not exceed the box capacity.
Furniture and electronics
Keep labelled fittings linked to the furniture they belong to. Photograph cable connections before unplugging electronics. Protect surfaces from scratching and avoid applying adhesive directly to delicate finishes.
Labels and inventory
Number every box and use the same number in the inventory. Add the room and a short description. Mark fragile boxes clearly. Keep passports, medicines and daily essentials with you instead of in the shipment.
